Openvz vs Xen
Openvz vs Xen
Here we are going to see the difference between openvz and xen servers.
OPENVZ:
• Provides account with Full Root Access
• Provides ability to offer “guaranteed” and “burst” RAM
• Upgrades to RAM and Disk are extremely easy and can be done without reboot
• Simple to use and more user friendly due to lightweight virtualization platform
• Inexpensive solution
• OS-level virtualization
• Shared CPU
• No dedicated Kernel
• Linux operating systems only
XEN:
• Provides accounts with Full Root Access
• Provides totally dedicated RAM resources
• Supports Swap space
• Provides totally dedicated CPU resources
• Provides fully independent Logical Disk Volume
• Provides fully independent Kernel install and related modules
• High level of customization
• Supports Linux as well as Windows operating systems
• Upgrades require reboot
• Disk upgrade extremely difficult (you must expand your LV then re-size your FS)
• May lead to data loss if done incorrectly
• To circumnavigate this, it is common to simply add another LV.
